La Querelle des Femmes, conocida como la querella de las mujeres en los estudios hispánicos, es difícil de definir. La forman una vasta red multilingüe e intertextual de textos, producidos desde la Edad Media, por autores masculinos y femeninos, que se refieren a las mujeres ya sea como tema de debate o como personajes que dialogan con el propósito de definir sus cualidades morales, físicas e intelectuales, generalmente en contraposición con las de los hombres. Muchos textos de la querella pretenden también prescribir y proscribir las relaciones entre los sexos y cuestionar el sometimiento institucional y consuetudinario de las mujeres a los hombres. Participar en la querella es, por lo tanto, una práctica tanto política como retórica, a la par que una reflexión sobre cómo se perciben las normas de género y cómo se desea (re)formarlas.
En esta clase se rastreará la historia y desarrollo de la querella en los siglos quince y dieciséis, y se explorará las relaciones de la querella con:
- la violencia de género
- la parodia
- las ficciones sentimentales.
